Description / Background

A bronze statue of an Australian First World War soldier in battle-worn uniform, preparing to throw a Mills bomb. This centrepiece is referred to as 'The Bomber'. He stands on a monument consisting several of rough-cut Harcourt granite blocks and this rests on a platform of three steps. There are four bronze tablets attached to the memorial, listing the names of 365 fallen from the district. The monument is 6.4 metres in height.
