Description / Background

This war memorial consists of seven sandstone pillars, each with an insignia or plaque attached. The insignias included are for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, Royal Australian Air force, RSL, Australian Women's Service. There are also two dedication plaques. 

Note: In 2015, due to renovations, the pillars were relocated to the Bruce Short Memorial Garden, next to the Fairfield RSL Club Memorial Plaque, at the corner of Anzac Avenue, Fairfield.

Inscription

This memorial was unveiled on Remembrance Day 11th November 2003 by Bill Galton, Ex World War II Veteran Allen Bailey Ex Korean War Veteran Jim Crossan, Ex Vietnam Conflict Veteran Warrant Officer II Robert Young, Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corp. John Burgess, President, City of Fairfield R.S.L. Sub-Branch, Ex Royal Air Force.

Eternal Vigilance is the price of liberty. This memorial is dedicated to the members of the City of Fairfield R.S.L. Sub Branch and the Citizens of Fairfield who gave their lives in all wars and conflicts.
