Description / Background

A planting of 50 trees on a nature strip in honour of the Second World War, marked with a coloured sign bearing the words 'Remembrance Grove'. There are also four bushrocks with brass plaques attached, including honour rolls and dedications. One rock is surrounded by a brick paved area and is accompanied by a flagpole. A time capsule is buried underneath.

The grove is located near the Gunnedah Museum on South Street. 

Note on veteran's name: The inscription for Joseph H Appleby is given on the memorial as Joseph H Applebee.

REMEMBRANCE GROVE

This grove of fifty trees featuring species representative of the four main theatres of conflict in which Australian forces served was dedicated on the 15th day of August, 1995. The fiftieth anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

To the memory of the men and women of Gunnedah and district who served the nation in that conflict.
