2.• Born 31 August 1914 Bungendore NSW. • Father Joseph Thomas (Tuckey) Daniel.Blacksmith.( b 2 Jun 1887 Hoskintown NSW .Mother Lillian Violet Overend born Nov 1891 Bungendore NSW) • Enlisted Paddington ,Sydney 30 May 1940. NOK Lillian Daniel. Residence on Enlistment was Queanbeyan Road, Bungendore.NSW. • Posted to the 2/6th Field Company, Royal Australian Army Engineers, attached to the 7th Division, 2nd AIF (A Field Coy was the basic unit of the RAE in WW2. Three were attached to a division, one per Infantry brigade. Their role was to same time), build roads, bridges, fortifications or whatever was required in base areas or in advance, and if necessary to destroy them in retreat. ) • Embarked from Sydney 19 September 1940 with his brother Robert David Daniel for the Middle East on the original "Queen Mary" and changed ships in Bombay to the Dutch liner "SS Slamat" 
and arrived in Egypt • Transferred with 7th Division to Palestine where the Division took part in the successful Palastine-Lebanon-Syria campaign 
against the Vichy French. • 2/6 Field Company attached to the British army during the defeat of Italian forces in the Sahara Desert prior to the arrival of Rommel 
and the German Afrika Korp. • KIA by a mine explosion 19 April 1941 at Mersa Matruh, Egypt.Aged 26.• Originally buried in nearby War Cemetery Egypt 19 April 1941• Re-interned at the El Alamein War Cemetery, Egypt Plot A4 ,Row F ,Grave #7 30 May 1944
