William "Cobar" Williams 2496
Although officially banned from enlisting in World War I,
many Aboriginal men still signed up and saw active service.
One of these men was William "Cobar" Williams.
At the outbreak of war, he was working as a labourer. His next-of-kin was his
sister, Emily, who lived at Carowra Tank. When he decided to enlist, he was
27 years old.
