Getting started

We have created spreadsheets to assist you in the recording of information about a memorial.

The spreadsheets have been created in Microsoft Excel and can be downloaded from the website. The spreadsheets can then be used to record information when you visit the memorial.
You will need to download 2 spreadsheets: one for recording information about the memorial, the second to record any veteran names and service details on the memorial.

Note: If you do not have access to Microsoft Excel, you can open and edit the war memorial spreadsheets using the following free spreadsheet applications:

Recording details and description of the Memorial

Using the War Memorials Template.xls spreadsheet, please record as much information as possible including the following:

  • Name of war memorial
  • Description of war memorial
  • Location
  • Details of dedication
  • Year established
  • Dedication date
  • Contact name
  • School/organization
  • Email
  • Telephone number
  • Any other interesting details found through research

You may need to do some background research to find out some of the details, such as the dedication date.  Accuracy is important, so if in doubt, please leave the field blank.
