Description / Background

This war memorial is a polished timber honour roll, featuring paintings of the crossed Union Jack and Australian flags. It lists 42 members of the Booyong-Pearce's Creek community who served in the Second World War and one man who served in Vietnam. The names are printed neatly in gold lettering, with those who made the supreme sacrifice highlighted in a separate box.

Few details are known about the origins of the roll; however, a Booyong-Pearce's Creek War Memorial Committee was meeting by November 1946 to discuss its construction. Their final meeting was due on 6 September 1948, so it is possible the roll was produced and unveiled between these dates (Northern Star, 22 November 1946; 4 September 1948). It was made by the same company who made the Doon Doon and Commissioner's Creek Soldiers Welfare Association Second World War Honour Roll, which has a similar design.

The roll is located inside the Pearces Creek Hall, alongside the matching Pearces Creek First World War Honour Roll

Access inside the hall to view the memorials is restricted by its opening hours.
