Description / Background

This Lone Pine was planted at the front of the Bundarra Central School in 2015, in honour of the Centenary of Anzac. It is accompanied by an upright stone slab, bearing the dedication plaque. The memorial was unveiled by the Minister for Northern Tablelands, Mr Adam Marshall.

A number of Lone Pines have been planted throughout Australia to commemorate the Battle of Lone Pine at Gallipoli, which took place from 6–10 August 1915.

"Lone Pine"

This tree is a direct descendant of a pine cone collected

from a Turkish trench by an Australian soldier, following

the Battle of Lone Pine, Gallipoli, August 1915.

It was planted here to commemorate the

100th Anniversary of the ANZAC landing and to

honour all who have served Australia in times of war.

In Eternal Gratitude
