Description / Background

Tapered granite obelisk with honour roll, mounted upon a concrete base, and surrounded by a white picket fence. The memorial was first dedicated on 22 July 1923, and was refurbished when the new Bungarby Fire Shed was completed. The memorial was then re-dedicated on 24 April 1993.

The memorial is situated outside the now unused Bungarby Hall. Two honour boards are also displayed within the hall. Bungarby is located approximately 70kms from Cooma, between Dalgety and Bombala.

Note on veteran's name: The Australian War Memorial lists Robert Arthur Sloan of Bungarby as having achieved the rank of Lance Corporal, as well as being awarded a Military Medal.
