Sacred to the memory of Captain William Grant of her Majesty’s 58th Regiment who fell on the 1st July 1845, aged 33 years while gallantly leading a party of his corps to the assault upon the Pah at Ohaeawai, New Zealand. This tablet is erected by his brother officers as a slight token of esteem and to commemorate the loss of a good soldier and a warm friend. Patten Sydney NSW.
