Cowra Locomotive Depot First and Second World Wars Memorial Fountain

The war memorial fountain features a sculpture of a hand holding a grenade with a sprinkler at its apex, above a large tray with four equidistant spouts and a fish pond at ground level. There are four planting boxes at each corner of the pond with a pebbled area around its perimeter. Two small plaques, one each for the First and Second World Wars, with names of rail employees who served in each war are placed at the base of the memorial.

The memorial is located on railway land adjacent to Cowra Locomotive Depot, Lachlan Valley Railway.

Notes on veterans' names:

  • No records can be found for a J Mulcahy of this area having died during the First World War. Their status has been left as killed in action (KIA) as that is what is indicated by the memorial.
  • J Jordan is given on the memorial as J Jordon.

Additonal notes by Sydney Trains:

The Cowra Railways Depot employees names who gave their lives in the First and Second World Wars are inscribed on two stone tablets fixed to the fountain base.

The Cowra Locomotive Depot is currently managed by Australian Rail Track Corporation (A.R.T.C.).
