Description / Background

The Sydney Greenham Memorial Gates consist of three metal gates, between four grey granite posts. One post has a polished section that contains the inscription and a bronze medallion, similar to an old English coin. The medallion records the veteran's name and is decorated with several figures. The central image is Britannia, complete with trident in one hand and a laurel wreath in the other. She is accompanied by a lion. Dolphins and a smaller lion with a bird in its mouth are also on the medallion.
