Bernard Evans and May Hayman Memorial Windows Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background Stained glass windows located inside St Albans Church in Epping, NSW, were installed in honour of two Sunday school teachers who died during the Second World War. A metal plaque in a timber frame bears the dedication. Inscription Plaque 'Greater love hath no man than this' These windows were placed in this church by the staff and children of the Sunday schools and their friends in memory of former Sunday school teachers. Sergeant Bernard Evans laid down his life in the defence of Singapore at Mersing, Malaya during the Second World War on 26th January, 1942. Sister May Hayman, a missionary nurse in the service of the Australian Board of Missions in Papua was slain by the Japanese near Gona on 1st September, 1942. 'In the glad morning of my day, my life to give, my vows to pay, with no reserve and no delay, lord of my life I come.'
