Description / Background

White marble tablet with curved top, approximately 900mm high by 600mm wide. The inscription and artwork are inlaid with a black coloured Terrazzo. An Australian Commonwealth Military Forces badge is at the top, bordered by a coloured Australian flag and Union Jack. The memorial was made by prominent stonemason M.W. Hardy.

To the glory of God.

In loving memory of, Gunner, George Lenard Illingworth, who was gassed in France, while fighting for King and Country 4th November, 1917 Aged 28 years

Sleep on dear George, your life for your country you nobly gave.
