Description / Background

This war memorial is a granite obelisk, accompanied by a flagpole. Inscribed onto the sides of the memorial are dedications and honour rolls for the First and Second World Wars. 

Adjacent to the memorial is an artillery gun.

Erected by the residents of Lockhart and district in grateful memory of the men who gave their lives in the cause of liberty, during the Great Wars 1914–1919 1939–1945

25LB Artillery Gun 

British manufactured in service from 1940–1973

Standard artillery gun used by Australian forces during that period. Donated to the people of Lockhart Shire by the Department of Defence.
