Description / Background

This memorial has two main elements, both set within a gravelled area in the grassed entrance corner of the Murrumbateman Recreation Ground. The first is a rough-hewn piece of local stone with associated bronze plaque. It was unveiled on 25 April 1998. The second is a series of four sawn-sandstone pieces, with bronze name plaques for individual veterans attached to three of the four stones.

Plaque 1

This memorial was dedicated on the 25th April 1998 in memory of all who served from the Murrumbateman District. Lest We Forget.

Plaque 2

This flagpole was erected to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the formation of the Murrumbateman Lions Club 23.9.1988.

Plaque 3

Memorial displays the names of those who were either born or enlisted locally. Remembrance Monuments and all associated works completed by the members of the Murrumbatemen Lions Club 15.2.2008. Special Thanks to Lord Tom and Lady Lorraine Bevan for donating the Sandstone.

Plaque 4

Remembrance monuments officially opened by Katrina Hodgkinson MP State Member for Burrinjuck on 30th March 2008.
