Description / Background

Made of black granite, the main monument bears the insignias of the Army, Navy, Air Force, the British Commonwealth Forces, and the Merchant Navy, with a large golden cross in the centre. At the top, there is a plaque that reads "Lest we forget". There are further plaques for those who paid the supreme sacrifice, and an "Australia Remembers" plaque.

Slightly in front of the memorial, a small black granite stone bears another Australian Military Forces insignia, the rising sun, with a plaque that reads 'Lest we forget'.
