Description / Background

The memorial is a stone column, topped with an orb. It stands on a two-stepped, polished stone plinth, which is inscribed with dedications and honour rolls for wars in which Australia has been involved. The whole stands atop a three-stepped platform. A series of pillars joined by rails and chains form a fence around the memorial. A separate dedication plaque is attached to one of the pillars.

The memorial was unveiled at a well-attended ceremony on 14 November 1925. The column was unveiled by Mrs Burton and the fence was unveiled by Mrs Pepper, who had donated it. The dedications were performed by General J. Paton.

The memorial is located in Raymond Terrace's Anzac Park, where commeorative services take place. Also on site is the Raymond Terrace Memorial Wall. The park is Lot 1 in DP 1014247 and is entry number 81203 from the Geographical Names Board of NSW.
