Redfern Park War Memorial Middle Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The Redfern War Memorial is a granite monument, adorned with two marble figures depicting an Australian solider and a young woman. The sides of the monument include a dedication plaque and an honour roll of local men who gave their lives during the First World War. The memorial originally included a column. A storm in 1975 caused considerable damage to the structure, causing the soldier to be re-positioned. Also located in the park is a Bofors Gun. Inscription Above the honour roll This memorial was erected by the citizens of Redfern to the honour and glory of the men of this district who gave their lives for God and King in the cause of humanity in the Great War 1914–1919 These brave men heard the nation's callThey nobly fought. Death nobly met.They gave themselves, their lives, their all, while life shall last we'll ne'er fogetD.F.B.
