Description / Background

Stained glass memorial window dedicated to Second Lieutenant Oscar White. The glass is contained within a tall lancet window. The image appears to show the figure of Christ receiving the benediction of an allegorical soldier figure, perhaps St George. The soldier would also appear to refer to Lieutenant White. White was killed in the First World War when his line was heavily shelled by the Germans. The window is inscribed at its base below a rising sun motif.

Inscription

Well done good and faithful servant

To the glory of God and in loving memory of Oscar White, Lieut, 2nd Battalion AIF, 4 October 1917, age 23 Years
