65th Anniversary of Women's Service Lone Pine, Lismore Middle Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background A Lone Pine tree located in Lismore's Commemorative Park. At the base of the tree is a low plinth with a plaque, inscribed with the dedication. The tree was donated by Brother Kevin of Trinity Catholic College, Lismore, to the Summerland Ex-Service Women Association in honour of the 65th anniversary of the formation of the Women's Service during the Second World War. The Australian War Memorial website contains historical information on the Australian Women's Army Services (AWAS), the Australian Army Medical Women's Services (AAMWS), the Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force (WAAF) and the Women's Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS).
