Description / Background

This memorial is a concrete pillar, built on three steps, which has been painted white. A marble tablet is attached to the side of the pillar that faces Castlereagh Road. It bears the inscription 'Castlereagh Roll of Honor' and the names of the local servicemen. The names have been highlighted in black and those who lost their lives are marked as 'Dead'. On the step directly below the base of the pillar is a second marble tablet, inscribed with the dates of the First World War.

The memorial is surrounded by a green metal fence, complete with gate. It is located on the western periphery of Smith Park, adjacent to Castlereagh Hall. It is visible from the roadside.
