Description / Background

The memorial is a grove of Eucalyptus scoparia trees, planted in memory of local veterans who died during the Second World War and the Vietnam War. The area is marked by a bushrock, with a dedication plaque attached. Each tree also has a sign positioned at its base, inscribed with the details of an individual veteran.

The trees were planted on land donated by the Pioneer Village Trust and is located on the grounds of the Inverell Pioneer Village. Arthur T. Daley was the instigator and supervisor of the project and students from McIntyre High School did the planting. It was officially opened by Mr Bruce Robson, President of Inverell RSL sub-Branch, on 17 April 1994.

Inside the Inverell Pioneer Village RSL Museum is a timber board, which includes a plaque for each veteran honoured in the grove. The board also includes a copy of the bushrock dedication plaque, with the additional introductory words 'Directly behind this building is a', to suggest visitors go outside to view the memorial.

Access to the grove and the timber board is restricted to the opening hours of the museum and village.
