A photo of Robert AppoRobert Appo discusses the service of his father Raymond in Vietnam as a conscript.

Raymond was a forward scout in Vietnam and suffered very badly from ‘jungle sores’ on his legs. He had to be medically evacuated to Australia, and had related health issues for the rest of his life.

Robert also explains his father’s reticence to speak about his experience, his dislike of the RSL and the issues he had with the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Robert also discusses a book of poems, stories and photographs, Yours Faithfully, published in 1975 for the members of 3RAR that he holds very dear.

Watch Robert’s interview at the Tweed Heads Yarn Up.
