The main entrance of the school faces west towards Turton Road, Waratah. Above the main entrance are the words 'Memorial Entrance World War II 1939 -1945'. On either side of the entrance are two brass honour roll plaques with names of ex-pupils. At the top of each plaque is the badge of Newcastle Boys High and the school motto in Latin 'remis velisque' [With oars and sails]; with all one's might'.
The school was originally know are Newcastle Boys High and has had a number of name changes. It is now known as Callaghan College, Waratah Technology Campus.
Note on veteran names: The wording on the plaques seems to indicate those named are deceased.
