Description: 

A tapered stepped square obelisk. Polished granite with gold inlay. Approx 100 metres south of Morpeth St., on the west side of the street on a small hill. Approx 2km north of the Hinton Bridge over the Paterson River at Hinton. 151 38 54E / 32 42 01S 9232 Newcastle 1:100000 AGD66

 

Inscription: 

(east face - top) THE GREAT WAR 1914-1919 THEY ANSWERED THEIR COUNTRY'S CALL (east face - bottom) Greater love hath no Man than this, that a Man lay down his life for his friends. Erected by the Citizens of Wallalong and Bowthorn. (west face - top) 2nd World War 1939-1945
