Description / Background

The memorial is a small rectangular plaque, bearing an honour roll of Guyra citizens who served in the Korean War, Malayan Emergency (Borneo), the Vietnam War, and East Timor (peacekeeping). The plaque's simple design features gold lettering and the Rising Sun emblem of the Australian military forces, also in gold.

The plaque was created as part of the 'Australia Remembers' program, which was developed by the Australian Government to commemorate various military events. These events included the 50th and 75th anniversaries of the end of the Second World War, and in the case of this plaque, those who have served in conflicts post-Second World War.

The memorial is located inside the Guyra Soldiers Memorial Hall and access to it is restricted to the opening hours of the hall.
