Description / Background

This honour roll lists 32 ex-pupils of Mumbil Public School who served in the First and Second World Wars and the Vietnam War. It is an elegant timber board, with decorative features including carved columns on each side, as well carved timber work at the top and bottom.

The design of this memorial is in keeping with another roll for the school, which was unveiled in 1946. This roll is listed separately on the NSW War Memorials Register as the Mumbil Public School First and Second World Wars Roll of Honour, Wellington. It includes the names of 30 veterans. The newer roll also includes Trooper William Inwood, who served in the Second World War, and Sapper Garry Raymond Scurrah, who served in Vietnam.

At some stage, the 1946 roll was removed from the school and placed on display in the Wellington Museum. In 1981, the Wellington RSL presented this new roll to the school.
