Served from 3/11/1941 to 1/2/1946 in the Aust base Watercraft Unit 2/2
Served in Darwin, (when the bombing took place 1942), and New Guinea.
Passed away in Concord Hospital on the 29th June 1955 from complications caused by his war service.
Son of Augustus Leonard Downie, and Ida Matilda nee Follent.
Beloved husband of Beatrice "Nora" nee Dawes and dearly missed dad to Denis Leslie b1944, Downie and Gail Annette b1946 Cowie nee Downie.
Les worked for many years in brickworks in Sydney as an engineer before and after his active service. He leaves 4 grandchildren, and 9 grgrandchildren.
