Stanley Albert Bushby was born in 1913 in Marrickville, NSW, to parents Ebenezer Bushby and Florence Eliza Moss. Stanley served in the CMF Militia Forces from 1932 to 1938, as a gunner. When the Second World War broke out in 1939, Stanley enlisted in the Merchant Navy as an Able Seaman. He served on the Queen Mary and the Rona. In 1942, Stanley married Martine Joyce Green. Stanley died on 31 July 1997, aged 83.
