George Leonard Bain was born on 6 August 1922 in Paddington, NSW. He enlisted in the 2nd AIF on 30 October 1941. He did not leave Australia, but spent some time in the Northern Territory in the service of his country. He was discharged from the army on 6 October 1944.

George died on 2 July 1964, at the age of 41. He was cremated and his plaque is in St Mary's Anglican Church Cemetery at Denham Court, Campbelltown City, NSW.
