Alexander Cooper was known as Hal all his life. He served in the Royal Navy 1937-1949. He served in the Atlantic convoys on RN escort vessels, convoying merchant ships across the Atlantic. Also in 1946, he was stationed at Kure, Japan, with the Commonwealth Occupation Forces in Japan. He attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He migrated to Ingleburn, Sydney, in 1951 and died there in 1969, aged 50.
