Albert Arthur Cuthbert was the son of Mr and Mrs H. Cuthbert of Meadows, South Australia. Albert enlisted in the 2nd AIF in 1939 and joined the 2/1 Machine Gun Battalion. He served overseas in the Middle East and Greece, and was wounded in action in May 1941. He suffered a wound to his left eye, which resulted in diminished vision.

Albert was discharged in June 1942. However, he re-enlisted in January 1943 and served his country again, until being discharged in June 1944.

Albert married Freda Amy Harders in March 1942. He died on 12 April 1987, aged 73 years.
