that records: He participated in the Gallipoli landing where he was wounded in the knee. In France he was wounded in the chest .After hospitalisation in England he was placed on the supernumerary list before being invalided to Australia.He spent some time with his parents in Bungendore wher his father was the Rector of St Philips.In March 1917 his AIF appointment was terminated andhe was appointed,with the rank of major,to organise command of the 2nd NSW District Guards Corps, a post he held until the Armistice was signed.
