Enlisted October 1915, aged 18. Received the DCM for gallantry at Pozieres (September 1916) where he and another soldier volunteered to (successfully) recover a wounded soldier in no man's land whilst under continuous fire. Killed by a rifle grenade. Body lost in the fighting. He was 19. Last known address: 8 Pearson Street
