John, a native of Devonshire, England was under the employ of a farmer, Mr E S Twigg, in Cowra at the time of Enlistment, having only been in Australia 3 years. Newton died at Marmamra, Gallipoli Peninsula, aged 23 years. Buried at Embarkation Pier Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
