Son of Grace Gertrude Donaldson, Kintore Street, Wahroonga and the late George Donaldson and A. and Diploma in Economics and Commerce. Charles was educated at Sydney Grammar School and the University of Sydney, gaining a BA and Diploma in Economics and Commerce. Charles was enrolled in Law 111 and was working in the Crown Law Office.
Charles Donaldson was an Original Anzac having sailed on 11 February 1915, landing at Gallipoli on 25 April where he was killed at Lone Pine aged 24 years. He is buried in the Lone Pine Cemetery at Anzac Turkey, Grave 11.E.14.
Charles Donaldson is remembered on the Honour Roll at St. Andrews Anglican Church Wahroonga.
