Admitted to 5th Australian Field Ambulance, 13 December 1917 (pyrexia, unknown origin), and transferred same day to 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 28, 15 December 1917, and admitted same day to 13th US Army General Hospital, Boulogne; transferred to England, 20 December 1917, and admitted to Bath War Hospital, 21 December 1917 (trench fever); transferred to No 3 Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 12 February 1918; discharged on furlough, 21 February 1918, to report to No 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 25 February 1918.

Admitted to No 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 11 June 1918 (eczema, non-venereal); marched in to Convalescent Training Depot from hospital, 1 July 1918; marched in to Machine Gun Training Depot, Grantham, 24 September 1918.

Admitted to No 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 28 October 1918; discharged to Convalescent Training Depot, Parkhouse, 30 October 1918; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 3 days.

Found guilty, 3 February 1919, of being absent without leave from 2359, 31 January, to 2000, 2 February 1919: forfeited 4 days' pay; total forfeiture: 6 days' pay.
