The Japanese War Cemetery in Cowra contains the remains of all Japanese prisoner of wars who died in Australia. This includes those involved in the 'Cowra Breakout' during the Second World War, as well as other internees and those involved in the battle of Darwin. The land was ceded to Japan in 1963. A large black granite monument dominates the cemetery.
