2020 marks 75 years since the end of the Second World War. To commemorate this important year, the NSW Government interviewed WWII veterans about their experiences. Read our 75th Anniversary Stories.
A large, multi-panelled, light-coloured, wooden honour board with inscriptions and veterans' names printed in gilt. Names are listed on the board in order of enlistment date. In some cases, the part of the Department in which the veteran worked is also recorded. This board is at the top of a three-part memorial wall, flanked by the Australian and New South Wales flags.
The memorial is located in the NSW Department of Education building.
For freedom's battle, once begun
bequeathed by bleeding sire to son
though baffled oft, is ever won. [Lord Byron, "The Giaour" (1813)]
In honour of our brother Officers who have gone forward to fight for the Empire all have offered their lives and some have given life in this sacred cause of freedom.
