Ernest William joined the army on the 11th of August 1914. He fought at Gallipoli and was promoted to Corporal. He then went on to fight in France and died of his wounds in 1918 and is buried in Querrieu British Cemetery, Querrieu, Picardie, France. His final rank was Quartermaster-Sergeant.
