Sacred to the memory of 

Lance Corporal Edward C Chesher

who was killed at Elands River S.A.

on the 2 September 1900 aged 21 years

also

Corporal Alfred Allen who died of

enteric fever at Pretoria S.A. on the 

18 October 1900 aged 32 years.

"They heard the Empire's trumpet call

And hastened to the fray

They left their homes, their loved ones all

To meet one glorious day."
