This memorial park was opened in November 1947. At its entrance is the Canowindra War Memorial Arch and within the grounds is the Canowindra War Memorial. The park includes grassed areas and several paved walkways, one of which features an artwork of the Returned and Services League emblem.
Plans for the official opening of the park were underway by September 1947. At that stage, a number of flowering shrubs had been planted and annuals had been purchased to be planted later. On 17 September, the Molong Express and Western District Advertiser reported Canowindra RSL sub-Branch had recently decided to approach Colonel Anderson VC of Young to perform the opening on Remembrance Day, 11 November. He accepted and a marble tablet on site records the details of the event.
On 16 June 1948, the Molong Express outlined the extensive works Boree Shire Council had undertaken in the park, prior to the opening. Improvements included planting 50 flowering trees, erecting fences, and constructing the memorial arch.
