Description / Background

In the garden area in front of the former Port Kembla RSL Club is a granite cenotaph. Attached to front and left sides of the monument are several plaques bearing the names of conflicts in which Australia has been involved, and some of the related locations. On the top face of the cenotaph is a small plinth, made from the same materials, bearing a plaque with the dedication to service.

Behind the cenotaph is a flagpole and a memorial wall. The wall has numerous plaques attached, which are inscribed with the names of individual veterans. The wall was rebuilt around 2020 and these works included installing new plaques. The names in the veterans list below are from these updated plaques and were provided to the NSW War Memorials Register in November 2020. It is understood some veteran plaques had been removed from the wall prior to the renovations and these names are not included in the below list.

Anzac Day commemorative services are held on site.
