Edgar Allen joined the AIF on the 15/12/1914, aged 20, and served as a Private in the 4th Australian Infantry Battalion at Gallipoli. He was reported missing between the 6th and 9th of August 1915 at Lone Pine. Edgar had been killed in action on the 6th of August at the start of the ‘August Offensive’, the final major British attempt to seize control of the Gallipoli Peninsula from the Ottoman Empire. He now lies in the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey.
