Description / Background

The Tia Union Church is a small wooden church with metal roof and a cemetery at the rear of the site. On the rear western wall inside the Church are several memorials:

  • Two honour rolls form part of the Church altar and are for the First and Second World Wars. The honour rolls are similar in style with a peaked top. There are wooden columns and stylised tulip flowers on either side. The lettering is in gold gilt.
  • One brass plaque with red lettering for women's services in the Second World War.
  • Two white marble plaques with black lettering dedicated to individual soldiers killed in the First World War.

The plaques and the First World War honour roll were dedicated on 10 February 1918.

The Church is located in the Tia District part of Walcha Shire on the eastern side of Walcha.
