Description / Background

Stone obelisk with inscription and names of those who served in the First World War. Flanking the obelisk are two stone walls to which honour rolls for the Second World War and subsequent conflicts are attached.

Additional Sydney Trains information:

A granite obelisk monument, with two sandstone walls. The obelisk is inscribed with the names of 74 veterans from the Wallerawang district who served in the First World War. It was first erected in front of the station and dedicated during 1920. When the station closed to rail traffic, the memorial was relocated to a small park next to the War Memorial Hall overlooking the West Signal Box. In March 2003, the memorial was relocated back into the forecourt of the railway station. The two flanking sandstone walls are recent additions from 2011.
