The plaque was made by Cunneen Signs of Holroyd, NSW and the inscription was composed by Auburn sub-Branch Secretary Ken Triggs and sub-Branch member Ron Inglis. The memorial was unveiled on 29 April 2011. The ceremony was to be performed by Auburn RSL sub-Branch Treasurer Des Webb, brother of Bryce Webb who was a Berala Public School captain in 1934. Bryce was killed in action when his bomber crashed during operations over Europe in the Second World War. As Des was not well on the day, the unveiling was done by his nephew James Webb and his daughter, a Year 6 student at the school. After the unveiling, the plaque was attached to an exterior brick wall within the school's grounds. Access to the memorial is by appointment/tour.
