Description / Background

The cenotaph consists of a granite column, supported by a square pillar, on a concrete base with five concrete stairs. The column is surmounted by an orb. The memorial was originally built to comemorate those who served in the First World War and an honour roll is inscribed on the sides of the pillar. Plaques have been added later for the Second World War, Korea, Malaya and Vietnam.
