Description / Background

The Mendooran Masonic Lodge Roll of Honour is set within a large rectangular shaped timber frame. The top of the inner section of the board features a decorative shape similar to the design of a headstone. The names are written in alphabetical order, indicting that the memorial was created after the Second World War. Each of the names has the person's Masonic Lodge rank printed in front of them.

The memorial is believed to have originally be unveiled and displayed at the Mendooran Masonic Lodge Temple in Mendooran. After the temple closed, the memorial was transferred to the Dunedoo Historical Society and Museum. Whilst the two towns were established at a distance of over over thirty-eight kilometres, there was always a close relationship between them. An investigation of the names indicates that many of the First World War soldiers came from Mundooran (Mendooran). Similarly, many of the Second World War soldiers came from Mendooran and the Merrygoen district.
